June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month.
The statistics around men's suicide are absolutely staggering. Too many good men are struggling quietly, and too many families are left trying to make sense of something they'll never fully understand.
One of the reasons I started our men's group here in Denver was because I saw it play out in my own world. In a relatively short period of time, there were several men I knew who took their own lives.
It was devastating. For their families, their mates, and everyone left behind asking, "Was there something I missed?"
Part of the mission of the KORU Men's Workout Club is to create a place where men can show up exactly as they are. A place of connection, belonging and safety. A place where you don't have to pretend you've got it all together, and where you can talk without fear of being judged or "fixed."
But these conversations shouldn't just happen in June. They should be part of how we live every day.
So I've got a challenge for you today.
Whether you've been to one Saturday morning session, every single one, or none at all, reach out to two fellas you haven't spoken to in a while. Send a text, make a call, grab a coffee.
Tell them you were thinking about them. Ask them how they're really doing. Let them know you care.
You never know what someone else is going through. Go make a difference in someone's day.
