Chronic Pain Training

Pain is a message, not a life sentence.

About 9 in 10 of our clients walk in with chronic pain: a back that never recovered, knees that ache on stairs, a shoulder that has hurt for years. We don't chase symptoms. We find the root cause and rebuild from there.

The Frame

Load vs. capacity.

Injuries and pain happen when life's load (stress, sitting, poor sleep, old injuries, too much too soon) exceeds your body's capacity to handle it. The fix isn't to push harder. It's to lower the load first, then patiently build the capacity until it comfortably exceeds the demands of your life.

That's why we never push through pain, and why "more is better" is a myth here. We train at the pace your body earns.

Pain is information. Your body is giving you feedback. Our job is to listen, understand what's happening, and build you back stronger.

The Method

Find the root cause. Rebuild from there.

Four moves, in order. We don't skip ahead; each phase earns the next.

01

Calm the nervous system

Breath and stress control come first. A body stuck in fight-or-flight will never heal, no matter how hard you train.

02

Find your pain-free range

Gentle, loaded mobility desensitizes the painful area. Then we find the range where you can move without pain, and train exactly there.

03

Build durable strength

Endurance first, then strength. We add range, load, and volume intelligently, so your capacity finally exceeds your life's demands.

04

Coach the whole human

Sleep, diet, hydration, stress, self-talk: the basics solve 95% of the problem. We coach all of it, every step of the way.

What We Work On

Three places we start.

Mobility and recovery work at KORU
Chronic Pain Coaching

Pain that hasn't responded

For backs, knees, shoulders and hips that have not responded to anything else. We find the root cause rather than chasing the symptom, then rebuild capacity in a pain-free range.

Injury Recovery

Return to activity

Bridging the gap between where physical therapy ends and real life begins. Progressive loading, better movement mechanics, and the strength to keep the injury from coming back.

Nervous system training

A body stuck in fight-or-flight cannot heal. We start with breath and stress control, calm the system down, and only then ask it to work.

Two Stories

Not miracles. Just the right method.

Different bodies, different histories, but the same root-cause approach, applied patiently.

20 Years of Back Pain

Cindy's story

Disc replacement. Multiple surgeries. Every physical therapist and acupuncturist in a 20-year span: nothing worked. At KORU, we rebuilt her trust in her body: breath training, nervous-system work, and a plan built only for her.

Pain-free in 5 months, for the first time in 20 years.

Two-Time Olympian

Ben's story

A two-time Olympian with multiple back surgeries, in 8-out-of-10 pain just walking. The breakthrough was learning to calm a nervous system that had been fighting his body for years, then rebuilding from his pain-free range outward.

From barely walking to Olympic training camp in ~3 months.

Why Your Body Hurts

When something hurts, most of us assume we just need to get stronger or push harder. Jason breaks down load vs capacity: why pain shows up when everything life pours into you overflows what your body can handle.

You Can't Out Train Your Nervous System

Jason thought working harder was the answer to everything, until a fried nervous system and constant injuries proved otherwise. Your body doesn't recover in survival mode. It recovers when it feels safe.

I've had back pain for years and tried physical therapy. Can you help?

That is most of our clients. We look for the root cause rather than treating the painful area, then rebuild your capacity from the nervous system up. We are coaches, not clinicians, and we will tell you honestly if you need a medical referral first.
